NOW Β· RESCUE

Account for pawns and exits

Prioritize burning, downed and bedridden pawns; preserve medical coverage.

NEXT Β· CONTAIN

Contain what you can reach safely

Check home area, work capability and a safe retreat before committing workers.

THEN Β· RECOVER

Flames out? Check the heat

Check injuries, rooms and meals before returning to ordinary jobs.

01 / Follow the rescue sequence

  1. Pause and locate pawns
  2. Identify a safe exit
  3. Assign rescue and containment
  4. Treat, then restore services
Withdraw when: heat injuries appear, exits are threatened or a responder collapses. Reassess before sending another pawn along the same route.

Locate burning, downed and bedridden pawns and identify an exit. Check nearby fuel, shells and combustible structures before assigning the whole colony to firefighting. Separate rescue, containment and medical coverage. In a small colony, preserve someone who can retrieve and treat an injured responder.

Check that the selected pawn can firefight, is available, and can reach the target within the home and allowed areas. Automatic firefighting depends on those areas. Avoid expanding the home area across the map just to chase distant flames: responders may leave the colony exposed or spend the emergency travelling.

03 / Indoor fire and wildfire need different priorities

🏠 Indoors: heat and exits

Small visible flames do not mean a safe room. Inspect temperature and pawn health before entry.

Do not let a rescue become a chain of casualties.
Read the full steps

Inspect room temperature and responder health, not just visible flames. Enclosed fires can create dangerous heat. Withdraw and reassess when heat injuries appear, an exit is threatened or a responder goes down. Do not send successive rescuers along the same failing route. Any ventilation work also needs a safe approach and escape.

🌲 Outdoors: protect what is threatened

Protect exits, food and occupied buildings before chasing distant flames.

Do not make rain your only plan.
Read the full steps

Decide whether flames threaten exits, food or occupied buildings before committing workers. A distant wildfire may not justify abandoning essential jobs. Inspect the fire edge, nearby fuel and the route responders will use. Keep the response within an area you can control, do not depend on rain, and avoid routes exposed to enemy fire during a raid.

04 / Firefoam: before and after

Before: Inspect coverage, condition and activation controls.

After: Check spent protection and arrange replacement.

Read the full steps

Select an existing firefoam popper and inspect coverage and condition. Its presence does not prove every threatened location is protected. The reference describes automatic activation on detecting fire and a manual trigger; use the current game interface. Do not send a pawn through a growing fire to install a last-minute device. Inspect spent protection and arrange replacement afterward.

05 / Check before reopening

  • βœ“ Account for everyone and treat burns and heat injuries.
  • βœ“ Check temperature, roof support, doors and routes.
  • βœ“ Keep meals, rest and essential power running.
  • βœ“ Inspect fire protection and record where control was lost.
Read the full steps

Treat burns and heat injuries first. Check temperature, roof support, doors and exits before reopening the area. Inspect power connections, food and treatment facilities for damage. Pause optional expansion while meals, rest and basic care recover. Cleaning ash is less urgent than restoring those functions.

Next: fix the most important weakness

Record where control was lost, which job lacked coverage and which route failed. Fix that weakness before expanding the prevention plan. Consider separating combustible stock, using less flammable construction or adding foam protection. Avoid a colony-wide rebuild that removes workers from food and medical duties just after an emergency.
