🪱 Anomaly DLC

🏚️ Monolith & Anomaly Triggers

  • A "Monolith" appears on the map at game start — this is the core of the Anomaly DLC
  • Researching the monolith requires the "Anomaly Research Bench," not a normal research table
  • Each completed monolith research tier unlocks new anomaly content and threats
  • Monolith research progress is tied to the colony's "Dread" level
  • Don't want anomaly content? Just leave the monolith alone — DLC content is fully optional

🔬 Research Nodes & Containment

  • Defeating anomaly entities allows you to "capture" living samples — place them in containment for research
  • Containment facilities: Containment Casket or Containment Platform
  • Each contained entity provides research points; the stronger the entity, the more points
  • Containment stability: contained entities have "Escape Risk" — low stability means they break out
  • Ways to improve containment stability: power supply (no blackouts!), multiple facilities reinforcing each other, dedicated pawn guard
  • Power outage = containment failure = all trapped monsters break out at once — a true horror scenario
⚠️ Containment facilities MUST have independent power + backup batteries. When a solar flare hits, everything goes down and every monster escapes — worse than any raid.

📐 Containment System Flow

From defeating the entity to safe containment — one wrong step means disaster:

⚔️ Defeat Entity Capture live after defeat Not all can be captured Some can only be killed 🔒 Place in Containment Containment Casket · Platform Stable power = safe containment Multiple facilities reinforce each other 🧪 Research Output Anomaly tech points Stronger entity → more points Unlocks dark tech ⚠️ Containment Breach = All Entities Escape Triggers: Power outage · Solar flare · Escape risk buildup Counter: Independent grid + backup battery + extinguisher + guard ✅ Golden Rule: Separate building + Independent grid + Extinguisher + Backup battery Containment breach happens faster than you expect — always be prepared
▲ Containment three-phase flow: Defeat → Contain → Research. Core risk is containment breach — it happens faster than you expect.

👹 Entity Bestiary

EntityTraitsThreatStrategy
FleshbeastMelee swarm, high numbers, splits on death⭐⭐Area weapons (flamethrower/grenades), avoid melee
GhoulFast melee + regeneration, weak to fire⭐⭐⭐Fire weapons + kiting
MimicDisguises as your pawn, turns on you⭐⭐⭐Watch for abnormal mood, isolate early
DevourerEats a full-health pawn in one bite⭐⭐⭐⭐Ranged kiting, don't let it close in
NociosphereHuge floating sphere, AoE psychic damage⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐Entire colony focus fire, spare no ammo
ShamblerSlow but unkillable, keeps reviving⭐⭐⭐Cremate corpses = permanent elimination

🧪 Dark Technologies & Rituals

  • Researching anomaly tech unlocks dark rituals and forbidden technologies
  • Void Battery: anomaly version of batteries, huge capacity and doesn't explode
  • Fleshcrafting: reshape creatures with flesh — implant flesh tendrils, bone spike weapons
  • Time Manipulation: briefly accelerate or decelerate time for one pawn
  • Summoning Ritual: actively summon anomaly entities to attack others — a dirty way to get back at neighbors
  • Blood Pact: sacrifice a creature for enormous power
  • These technologies are powerful but come with consequences — they may cause unexpected outcomes

⚠️ Newbie Survival Tips

  • Don't rush to research the monolith — make sure your base defenses are solid first
  • Turn off "Anomaly Events" (configurable at game start) if it's your first playthrough
  • Place containment in a separate building with independent power + fire extinguishers nearby
  • Anomaly entities often have high resistance to conventional weapons — research AP ammo or use charge weapons
  • Psychic protection gear is important — a Tinfoil Hat can prevent mind control
  • If you don't want to deal with this DLC: just never research the monolith, pretend it doesn't exist
  • First encounter with a new entity = don't panic, pause the game and study its attack pattern before formulating a strategy
Anomaly DLC is for veteran players who are bored with vanilla. If you're still learning how to survive your first winter — turn this DLC off and come back later.
