1. Identify the affected area

Pause and identify whether one appliance, one room or the whole colony is affected. Note when it started and what changed immediately beforehand. Deal with fire, injured pawns and dangerous temperatures before sending a builder into the area.

2. One appliance is down

Inspect the appliance’s connection, switch and damage state, then inspect the grid it actually uses. A nearby conduit is not proof of a powered connection. Try reconnecting and check the result. A designated power toggle still needs a pawn to perform it.

3. Several rooms are down

Trace the connection from critical appliances back to generation, especially near recent demolition, digging, fires or raids. Check switches that may isolate the supply. Restore the necessary link first; do not send the only builder through hostile fire merely to repair the shortest route.

4. Reduce demand deliberately

Look at grid excess and stored energy, not the number of generators. Make a shutdown list for optional production. Keep temperature control, urgent food preparation and treatment conditions according to the immediate danger. Recheck after each change instead of assuming critical appliances receive automatic priority.

5. Watch the next demand change

If power returns and later fails again, observe production and demand across the transition. For fueled equipment, inspect fuel, access and refill coverage. Batteries buffer supply; adding empty storage does not fix a sustained generation deficit. Choose extra generation or lower demand after observing the pattern.

6. Keep the colony functioning during repairs

While repairs are pending, inspect actual room temperature and food spoilage readouts. Limit unnecessary traffic and prioritize meals needed today instead of expanding perishable stock. Move sleepers out of unsafe temperatures. A powered cooler or heater is only the start: verify the room recovers too.

7. Recovery checklist

Check that critical appliances use the intended grid, repair crews are safe and the next production job runs without forced orders. Watch storage during demand changes and provide backup coverage for refueling and repairs. Restart optional production in groups and recheck after each group. If power fails again, record the trigger before changing everything.
